Spain has comprehensive assisted reproduction legislation dating to 1988. Egg donation is anonymous by law. Single women and same-sex couples can access treatment. Surrogacy is not permitted. Gender selection is not permitted except for medical reasons. Age limits are clinical rather than legal, with most clinics treating patients up to approximately 50.
Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, and Seville all have internationally recognized fertility clinics. Barcelona and Valencia are the most popular among international patients.
